Prior to launching Kingdom Impact on January 18, at your own initiative, spend time with God through this devotional entry and pray for the whole church.
Scripture: Luke 2:4-7
A very pregnant Mary and Joseph walk into Bethlehem seeking shelter for the night. She is due very soon and in need of rest and shelter. They go to an inn and ask for a room but are turned away. They resort to finding a barn and make due with what little they can find. The birth of the Messiah happens without the town knowing. The innkeeper obviously didn’t know that the Messiah was about to be birthed. But he must have seen that Mary was in need of help but was not compelled enough to let them stay, even in his own room. The inn had no space for the Lord.
Do you have room in your own life to welcome the Lord in? Are you prepared to welcome God’s direction for your own life? If your life is full of work, responsibilities, family, and even church, what might you be missing out on? Are you inadvertently pushing the Lord away? The innkeeper missed an opportunity beyond imagination. He could have provided shelter for the birth of the Messiah.
Christ is always knocking at our door, waiting for opportunities when we can receive his counsel and gentle direction. We only need to recognize this and make room.
Pray that we may be the church that opens our heart, making a room to be transformed by the Holy Spirit, to do what God desires to do in and through us, making a Kingdom Impact locally and around the world. Pray that many at YNCC will join Kingdom Impact and experience the joy of being part of extending God’s Kingdom.
