Pre-Engagement Class

Would you attend a class that addresses relationship education and skills in a dating relationship?
Over the past few years at least one person (dating couple) has approached me each year asking if they can take the pre-marital class if they are dating. At that point we didn’t have a class for them. But, this month 2-3 people (who are in a dating relationship) asked me of YNCC has a class for dating couples, a sort of pre-engagement class. I took that as the Spirit’s nudge to provide a class for people of YNCC.
I’d like to ask a few questions.
- If you were to take the class what would you hope to learn?
- How long would you want the class to be?

i guess i can’t really empathize because im not in a relationship right now, but don’t we have a singles ministry to cultivate healthy singles and to prepare them for healthy marriages? people in dating relationships are still single individuals, so they should just stick to the singles teaching, no? hmm, maybe it isnt so black and white as i make it seem, but i feel like if these dating couples are ready to take their relationship to the next level by taking classes and counseling together, they should just get married already. hehe.

Thank you toolizzit2quit for sharing your thoughts. I do enjoy having someone to dialogue about the blog entries.
I think the desire to learn and grow in relationships is very good. Especially since the divorce rate is so high. Any help and support in preparing for marriage is good. I believe that honors God.
