Bible in One Year Passages:
Mark 4:1-20, 1 Corinthians 7:1-16, Joshua 21-22
vs. 41 They tested God again and again and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
52 Then he led out his people like sheep and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
56 Yet they tested and rebelled against the Most High God and did not keep his testimonies.
69 He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded forever. 70 He chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds: 71 from following the nursing ewes he brought him from shepherd Jacob his people, Israel his inheritance.
Israelites tested God again and again and God was angry. God gets angry when Israelites turn to worship idols. He brought lots of destructions in Israel so Israelites will turn back to God. Then it is God who leads his people like sheep and guides them like a flock. But Israelites tested God again and similar destruction happens again and God saves his people by building his sanctuary and chose David as their leader who shepherd his people faithfully with skillful hand.
It is so true in my life that I sin against God by forgetting He is Lord in my life. Then I experience this distance from God and realize I’m living this empty life. But God is gracious and loving. He brings me back gently like the Good Shepherd who holds his sheep in his bosom.
I shall live this day remembering the Lord who directs my day that I will fulfill his purpose and not go after anything else beside Christ, Himself.
Lord God, thank you for leading me back to you. I know how much I anger you whenever I get distracted with living the life here. Please help me to surrender everything to you so I may gain Christ. In His Name, Amen
