Scripture

"So they went out and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them." (v. 12, 13)

Observation

Jesus called his disciples, gave them authority over the unclean spirit, and sent them in twos to proclaim God's power and his love. He strictly instructed them to be minimal in personal amenities for the work they were about to do, and trust God to take care of the rest. Disciples went out and demonstrated His power through the healing of sick and casting out of the demons. It was like John the Baptist resurgent in doubles. Jesus has made himself known to King Herod, just who the real King is.

Application

In the field of evangelism, pure and simple declaration of need for repentance and healing seems to outweighs all the rest. I wonder how much of modern day evangelistic approach, or better yet, my own way of evangelism mimics this quintessential truth.

Prayer

Lord, guide my mind to focus on what you will, and not on my understanding and need of personal comfort. Where would you like me to go and what would you like me to do today? Please use me as your instrument for your will today. In your precious name, Jesus, I pray. Amen
