But she answered him, "Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."

Observation

The Gentile woman was compared to a dog by Jesus and yet instead of lashing out or defending her pride, she shows humility. Jesus rewards her humility by healing her daughter. I'm not sure I would have been able to act like the Gentile woman. I'm not sure my pride would have let me.

Application

I need to let go of my pride. When my pride gets hurt or challenged, I need to react like the Gentile woman.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that You will continue to work in me despite my pride. Break me down so that my pride doesn't get in the way of my faith.
