Bible in One Year Passages:
V.2 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them. V3 and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one earth could bleach them.
Jesus has taken three of his disciples to the high mountain where He was transfigured before them. Jesus showed Himself not just as a man but Himself as the Son of God before Peter, James and John. The radiance and brightness of His presence was indescribeable. It must have been an amazing sight for the disciples. However, they were rather terrified than excited to see Jesus in that transfigured state.
When I listen to the news these days and just observe what's going on around me, I hear and see mostly negative happenings. It's so easy to get caught up in the natural disastors like earthquakes, violence all around our cities, and generally financial crisis still experienced by many families closest to me. And today's message is a reminder that Jesus, the Son of God is the Good News. The Good news is that the radiant presence of Jesus is right here now especially in my heart. His presence is all around us, yet, rather than excited to know that what happens in this world has a purpose, I tend to be terrified like the disciples. Rather than praying and asking Jesus for peace in my heart, I am terrified.
Lord, may I truly experience your radiant presence in my daily life. I desire not to be terrified but to be excited to see and experience your awesome presence all around me. May I remember always that my true living God is here with me.
