Scripture

v.1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; v.2 to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night.

Observation

In today's passage from verses 1 through verse 8, giving thanks to the Lord , declaring his steadfast love and faithfulness throughout each day ought to be an integral part of our daily life. When I give thanks and express my gratitude to God for His blessings and provisions for my life, my day seems to be upbeat and positive. However, I make excuses time to time; not giving thanks at all times, especially when I'm overwhelmed with my "to-do list" for the day. Or when I'm physically tired from a long day at work and from driving through the traffic going and coming from work. In verse 12 through verse 15, Psalmists describe how the righteous ones flourish strong and bear fruits even as they grow old, and as they place their faith in God at all times. They find strength as they honor God by recognizing who He is and what He has done for them each and every day.

Application

I looked at my schedule for today and realized that my day is filled with meetings all day. Rather than living a life with a tight back to back scheduled calendar, I ought to pause here and there and give thanks to God for his blessings and beautiful relationships I have with friends and family. I had forgotten for a moment what's really important in my life. I want to express my gratitude for everything God has given me to manage. I want to honor God through constant thanksgiving for all that happens throughout the day.

Prayer

Lord, I thank you for your love and care for me. I am reminded that I ought to live a life of thanksgiving throughout each day. Help me to honor you by giving thanks and declaring your steadfast love and faithfulness moment by moment. Cause me to pray without ceasing and remember to lift up a prayer of thanksgiving for the smallest matters. In Jesus name, Amen.
