Bible in One Year Passages:
Mark 2:1-12, 1 Corinthians 4:1-7, Joshua 11-12
20 Have regard for the covenant,
for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.
21 Let not the downtrodden turn back in shame;
let the poor and needy praise your name.
The psalmist is anxiously waiting and seeking God to come and rid of all the foes and darkness of this world. It appear that the psalmist is not sensing the presence of God at the moment. Still the longing is not for personal relief, but rather it is to reclaim God's glory in others. The psalmist calls upon God to to rescue his people, that the poor and needy may praise his name.
My typical daily prayers consists of the needs and desires about myself and those immediately close to me. It is rare that I pray for those outside of my close circle of influence. However, as psalmist calls upon our God for all those afflicted by the darkness of the world, I too need go beyond and care for and pray for all those in darkness.
Lord,
May your greatness shine upon this world. May it bring the much needed light to all those who are still lost, who live in darkness. Your greatness is timeless and I just pray that you'd show your presence. May all those who are now lost remember your covenant and come to praise your name. I pray that I may be used as one of your instrument in bringing this light. In your strength and your faithfulness I pray. Amen.
