Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 16:10-18, 2 Timothy 2:1-7, Nehemiah 7
7 The memory of the righteous is a blessing...
In my youth, I had enjoyed reading and meditating on the Proverbs; as a young man, it must have been my desire to gain and grow with wisdom and understanding. There was something very appealing about the Book of Proverbs. "A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.": This is such a common sense, and I must have somewhat hoped and believed that I was a "wise son", but as I reflect, I know my parents weren't always glad. And they are no longer around to share their thoughts...
These verses (1-16), to me, are commonsensical in nature, and as I read and nod to each verse, the verse 7 ("the memory of the righteous is a blessing") has drawn my attention. When my time is up...whenever that would be...would the memory of me a blessing to everyone in their heart that knows me? Would they truly agree in their heart to the eulogy, which I hope would be filled with a blessing to others around me and know me?
Lord, do you see my point...? May my thoughts and actions would result in a blessing to your name for others. And please help me more in this regard, for I wish not to just nod and forget. May I continue to mature in wisdom and understanding as days, months and years go by...in Jesus' name.
