Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 17:11-19, 2 Timothy 3:10-17, Nehemiah 11
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but he who hates reproof is stupid.
A good man obtains favor from the Lord,
but a man of evil devices he condemns.
No one is established by wickedness,
but the root of the righteous will never be moved. (12:1-3)
These words (and similar verses surrounding it) describe the right way and the wrong way and the inevitable results thereof. A believer or not, I would think that most would agree with the truth of these words. But it is one thing to know what is right and another thing to actually do it on a consistent lifestyle basis and for what purpose.
As we went over in the Psalms several weeks ago, we learned how a young man can keep his way pure – by storing up God’s word in his heart. Psalm 119:9-11. It is so plain yet we can make all the excuses in the world not to take the time to memorize scripture and allow God’s words to permeate in our life.
I am also reminded that in order to live with consistent wisdom I must walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:16. This requires a daily relationship with our Lord Jesus. He is with me and guiding me. I must acknowledge His presence and abounding love for me today. Instead of worrying about all the “dont’s” I can lean on Him completely and “do” for Him at home, at work, and in all my relationships to His glory.
Lord thank You for sending Your Son in whom we have not just the promise of heaven but victory over sin. Yes, we fail and fall short, but thank you for picking us up again and carrying us. Help me to meditate and memorize your words and walk in Your Spirit this hour and forever more.
