Bible in One Year Passages:
31 On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. 32 Remember Lot's wife.
Jesus is warning those who would be preoccupied with the things of this world at the expense of the things of Heaven. He says that we should abandon all that we have built here when He returns. He then ends with the example of Lot's wife, who during the escape from Sodom and Gomorrah, looked back at the city with longing in her eyes and was instantly transformed into a pillar of salt.
We are to be ready at any given time for Jesus' return. Under this meaning, however, lies another important concept: we should refrain from being so attached to this world so as to not be able to leave it when the time comes. We are constantly surrounded with things to do and goals to accomplish. Many times we forget that this life is merely a temporary one and that our eventual destination is with God and not on earth.
Lord let me be attached to you and not to the things of this world.
