Bible in One Year Passages:
35 As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant. 37They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by." 38And he cried out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" 39And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" 40And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him, 41 "What do you want me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, let me recover my sight." 42And Jesus said to him, "Recover your sight; your faith has made you well." 43And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
These passages recount the story of the blind beggar. Despite not being able to 'see' Jesus, the beggar hears of His arrival & cries out repeatedly in a loud voice (even despite being discouraged by others around him to be silent) pleading for mercy and compassion. On this day the blind beggar refuses to be denied. He addresses Jesus as the Son of David signifying that he knows he is addressing the promised Messiah who had been prophesized to come and save His people. After Jesus heals him, the blind beggar follows him and glorifies God...and all the people who witnessed this miracle praised/glorified God.
I will strive to have this persistent, true, and powerful 'blind' faith exhibited by this man. I will trust in the omnipotence & grace of God to intercede in our lives to allow for healing/restoration to occur in any challenging situation.
Dear Lord Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending your Son to provide us with healing, hope, and ultimate salvation. Please forgive me for my times of weakness in faith & giving in to the temptations of sin...help me by sending your Spirit to renew & strengthen my faith so that others too may be blessed and give glory to you always and forever. In Jesus name, Amen.
