Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 20:9-18, Philemon 8-25, Esther 9-10
v16 Why should a fool have money in his hand to buy wisdom when he has no sense? v24 The discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.
It goes without saying that wisdom and foolishness are constant themes in the book of Proverbs. And these two verses give insight into how wisdom is attained. In verse 16, there is a cost associated with wisdom. Not in the sense of buying it with money, but investing myself and my resources to seek after God through his word. In verse 24, there is a directional aspect of attaining wisdom. Setting your face towards wisdom. It's a constant focus and moving towards God and His word that takes us to understanding.
How many times have I prayed for wisdom either for a particular situation or for wisdom in general as if it were something that can rain down from the sky and take me to some higher level of understanding? I must keep my face towards God and invest in knowing Him through His word.
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will keep my focus on knowing You and your word. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
