Scripture

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Observation

If there is a standard for Christians living, I think it should be these verses--to trust God, not oneself and acknowledge God in everything, great or small.

What does acknowledge really mean? I looked it up in the dictionary and it gave me several definitions:
1. to admit to be real or true
2. to show or express recognition or realization of
3. to recognize the authority, validity or claims of
4. to show or express appreciation or gratitude for
5. the indicate or make known the receipt of

If my heart and mind is set on trusting God and in acknowledging Him, I am told that God will direct me to a straight path to Him.

Application

What does it mean to trust God with all my heart? Am I willing to take whatever comes my way in life because I truly believe He is the one True God—one and only Sovereign One who has the control of all things? That nothing happens without it being filtered through His hands?
Do I desire God's ways more than mine? Does my heart yearn to please Him and not get upset if I don't get my way?
How can I acknowledge God if I don't know Him or His ways? I can study and meditate on His Word, the Bible, that tells me who God is and His love story to me through His chosen One, Lord Jesus Christ. If I truly believe in God's authority, then I should obey what God tells me through the Bible as I would a perfect GPS when it gives me the direction, I follow it so that I would not get lost.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for your Word that tells me who you are and what I need to do. Thank you for the restored relationship with You through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, I have hope for the future.
Help me to acknowledge You in ALL my ways so that my words and actions will be pleasing to you--that my life “GPS” would be set on my eternal home in heaven and that I would obey the directions that are given and not get lost trying to take short cuts.
In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
