Journal Entry

Scripture

21 For a man's ways are before the eyes of the Lord,
and he ponders [6] all his paths.
22 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him,
and he is held fast in the cords of his sin.
23 He dies for lack of discipline,
and because of his great folly he is led astray.

Observation

Solomon is warning his son about the devastation that sexual sin brings not only to this life but also to death and hell. Even though man may get away with his secret sins, his ways are known to God. Solomon provides instructions of wisdom to his son: run away from sin and stay faithful to the wife God has provided, for then blessings can flow.

Man call fall to the temptations of power, money, fame, and sex. This is what Satan lures us with. How can we avoid those traps? We cannot do it alone.

Application

I have to rely on the Holy Spirit to work within me to run away from sin and provide me with the strength to avoid falling into temptation. This is a reinforcement that reading Scripture, Praying, being held Accountable with at least one other believer are ways that I need to constantly and consistently pursue on a daily basis to keep me in line with God's instructions.

Prayer

Dear Father in Heaven, Thank you for being the God who is mighty and awesome, yet pays attention to all the details of our daily lives. You know the weaknesses we have and how the evil one is looking at ways to destroy us. " And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

Amen.
