Bible in One Year Passages:
1 One Sabbath, when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were watching him carefully. 2 And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy. 3 And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” 4 But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away. 5 And he said to them, “Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?” 6 And they could not reply to these things. (ESV)
Knowing that Pharisees have set a trap for Him, Jesus does not give in to the pressure of the Jewish leaders, but instead uses this situation as a teaching opportunity to try to help them to see their legalistic belief about Sabbath is wrong.
All my decisions in my job, family or church should always be based on God’s truth and His value system and not based on today's cultural norms and values, no matter how unpopular or politically incorrect they may seem. By doing so, I will be able to let the world know that His ways are always better than the worldly ways.
Heavenly Father, please allow me the courage and strength to always stand up for what is right in Your sight and make decisions based on your wisdom and truth rather than simply to please people or based on worldly beliefs and values. Please allow me Your peace to know that You will honor those choices I make and You will take care of the consequences of those choices to bring You Glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
