Bible in One Year Passages:
John 15:1-4, Revelation 1:1-8, Hosea 1-2
But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold (Job 23:10).
What keeps Job grounded in the midst of his utterly desperate situations is his understanding of God as one who is sovereign and at work in his life. He says, "When God has tried me, I shall come out as gold." Like Job, many of us will inevitably undergo unexpected trials in our journey on this side of heaven. Thus, we will do well to keep two truths in mind: First, God who is sovereign over all things under heaven is at work in our lives even in the midst of chaos and confusion we experience during the "storms" of our lives. Second, our Sovereign God will use our painful experiences to refine us like gold. In other words, nothing gets wasted with God and in God.
I will anchor myself in God's sovereignty and trust in His plan no matter what comes my way between today and tomorrow.
Abba Father, I thank you for the assurance of your sovereignty over my life. Yet, I must confess that I am quick to forget and wonder away from this important truth. So, Holy Spirit, would you constantly remind me of this truth about my Abba so that I may remain grounded in this truth and continue to participate in your work in and through my life today? I pray all this in Jesus Name. Amen.
