Bible in One Year Passages:
Matthew 13:44-58, Acts 20:13-38, Exodus 23-24
9Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;
my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also.
14But I trust in you, O LORD;I say, "You are my God."
15My times are in your hand;
rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!
23Love the LORD, all you his saints!
The LORD preserves the faithful
but abundantly repays the one who acts in pride.
24Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the LORD!
David is in agony in this passage. He says his life is filled with sorrow; enemies are all around him, plotting schemes against him. I’m not completely sure if it was brought on by his iniquities or not but he remembers the Lord during this hard time by saying, “You are my God My times are in your hand…” He recounts His goodness and blesses the Lord for His steadfast love. He tells all of us to love the Lord, be strong and let our heart take courage.
In everybody’s life, sometimes, life gets so tough that bring us to our knees. But like David, I should remember the Lord who is good and has the best intentions. During the hard time, I should not lose hope but be reminded of His everlasting love, faithfulness and being our God. Moreover, I should love the Lord, be strong, take heart, continue to have hope and wait for the Lord! Today, I will try to look for anybody the Lord brings my way who needs words or acts of encouragement to remind them of who God is and be a vessel of hope.
Father, thank you for being our God. I’m so thankful that I can trust you and rely on you when life gets tough. Please help me to remember my life and my time are in your hand. Please be with those who are going through hard times in our church or those whom we know. Would you come to them, comfort them and give them everlasting hope? Please help me to bring real hope for those who are hopeless around me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
