Scripture

1I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2My soul makes its boast in the LORD;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!

Observation

From researching the background to this Psalms 34, King David is pretending to be insane in front of the Philistine King Achish and Abimelech a Priest inorder to distract and escape( reference from 1 Samuel 21) while fleaing from Saul. While David is fleeing from certain death by Saul he is praising and exalting God. Although as the a Man after God's own heart and being a faithful abiding servant trouble also follows David. Even for David, life is hard as a servant of God and yet he praises Him.

Application

Being a follower of Christ doesn't come with a pass that exempts us form trials and hardships. Though God is on our side testing of our faith is never too far way. Yet I've learned from David that in good time and bad he is persistent and consistent in lifting praised to him. In verse 1 he proclaims that "his praises will continually be in my mouth." He is vowing to praise God in all circumstances. In my reality that is a hard thing to do. I have my times where I want to withdrawal from God and have very little to give praise about. David gives me an alternative which is in my moments for despair to life up praise form what he will do and what he has done already!!!

Prayer

Lord, Give me a heart that continually praises you. When I feel like I'm fleeing from you draw me closer to you. May my words be only of praise and boasting of you in all things amen,
