Bible in One Year Passages:
Matthew 15:21-39, Acts 23:1-11, Exodus 33-34
11 Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
David, the man after God's own heart, tries to teach the younger generation "the fear of the Lord", so that they would themselves walk in His ways. Maybe he was afraid(?) that the children might forget and become unfaithful, just as, in the past, "there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord of the work that he had done for Israel; and the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord..." (Judges 2:10 &11;)
As my kids are growing, it's been my prayer that my kids--and the children of my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, if I may-- would learn "the fear of the Lord" and walk in His ways all the days of their lives. As I encourage and instruct my children to follow Jesus who is THE Righteous through meditating on His Word, it is also my desire that my thoughts, speeches and actions would reflect the "fear of the Lord" before the eyes of my children...
Dear Lord, my walk with you is not just for myself but for my children, too. Oh, how I wish that my children can plainly see "the fear of the Lord" in my thoughts, speeches and actions. As inadequate as I have been, may my speeches and actions cause and encourage them to learn more about you through meditation on your Word. Though young, may they also experience your hand upon them in their own ways, as you walk alongside them, Lord.
In the name of Jesus...amen.
