Bible in One Year Passages:
Matthew 16:13-28, Acts 24, Exodus 37-38
17How long, O Lord, will you look on?
Rescue me from their destruction,
my precious life from the lions!
18I will thank you in the great congregation;
In the mighty throng I will praise you
Through this psalm by David, he seeks vindication while running away from people that sought to kill him. Throughout this passage, David seeks God’s help to shield him from those who hate him even without cause. David notes that they (his seekers) do not desire peace but rather they create words of deceit (v. 20). He later pleas with God to put all of them to shame. Lastly, David anticipates the time when he can rejoice and delight with the Lord as David cherishes the God-given righteousness.
As opposed to David who is proactive in his relationship with God, I find myself being more reactive to blessings already received from God. A good personal example was the time in 2005 when I was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. After a week of prayers and pleas to God (not to mention two surgeries), placing my life into His hands allowed Him to heal me. I need to be much more proactive with more family time and time for prayer so that my entire family may be blessed. As I relinquish more, it is my hope and prayer that He will bless the Park family in immeasurable ways.
Thank you Lord for insisting to be by my side even with my shortcomings. You are truly in control, a simple fact that will manifest itself if and only if I relinquish or turn over my reigns to you. Help me, Father, for my family and I need you. In the interim, please continue to look favorably upon my family as we strive to even greater heights with you. Thank you, Lord; in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
