Bible in One Year Passages:
Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Jesus redefines leadership and power, and that it should be different for the people of God. It is not about status and money, but about humble service. Not about being served, but about serving. What can we give...not receive.
With the demands of being a father, a husband, a leader/servant...I get caught up on the doing. I need to slow down and not just do...but give whole heartedly. I need to enjoy and appreciate these times of serving my kids, my wife, and my church.
Heavenly Father...thank you for reminding me again about what really matters and that doing is not enough. Help me to give more of myself and not get caught up on the daily demands on me. Help me to focus and not lose sight of what is important to you. Increase my faith, my patience, and my love. In Christ name...Amen.
