Bible in One Year Passages:
22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”
The same God’s Word can become powerless and insignificant or a source of great blessing and life giving catalyst depending on the person’s heart condition and his priorities in life.
I can identify myself often with the person described in verse 22. Instead of wholeheartedly trusting in God’s promises for my needs, I allow constant demands and stress of my job to consume my thoughts and immobilize me from growing more spiritually. This passage is a great encouragement for me to focus more on the heavenly purpose and invest more of my time and energy on the things that will last eternally.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the reminder once again that I ought to focus my heart and mind to the things that matter most to You and not be so consumed with my own issues or desires. Please allow me courage to be a better witness in sharing the Gospel to others. Help me to always surrender to your will so that I may become the seed that dies and bears much fruit. In Jesus name, Amen.
