Bible in One Year Passages:
"And Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, 6 and Jesse the father of David the king" (Matthew 1:5-6).
The fact that Rahab's name appears in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus Christ is quite remarkable and unexpected. Actually, if you knew who this woman Rahab is, you would find it to be quite scandalous and controversial. So, who was Rahab? She was a gentile woman whose occupation was a prostitute. Not exactly your ideal candidate for Jesus' ancestor, to say the least! I have heard people say that God can do extraordinary thing using the lives of ordinary people. But, today's passage takes that up a notch because we discover that our God can do extraordinary thing using the lives of less than ordinary people.
I will stop doubting and limiting what God can do through me. Instead, I will prayerfully discern how I might allow God to use my life to make a difference in the lives of others today.
Lord, I thank you and praise you for your grace upon my life because it is your grace that enables me to be more than what I can be on my own. Now as I go through this day that you have given me as a gift, help me not to limit what you can do through me on this day. Instead, help me be sensitive to how you want to use me and be quick to obey you. It is in Christ name I pray. Amen.
