Scripture

3 Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.

Observation

In early church, there was a problem with food distribution for Greek widows probably due to language barrier so apostles asked the church to pick out servants who will take care of this ministry. This enabled apostles to devote themselves to prayer and ministry of Word of God. This resulted in adding many disciples to the early church.

Application

Like early church, our church has many things that needs to be taken care of and good leaders should be raised up to take care of different needs of church so teachers and pastors can focus on teaching and preaching the Word of God. Thus priority of church lies with the Word of God and next is great team work with good servant leaders and team members are gifted in various ways.

Prayer

Please help the leaders at our church to be good servant leaders and bring more people to your kingdom work. Pray that we will continue to walk a life filled with your Spirit and grant us your wisdom, grace and experience more of your power daily. Please be with pastors and teachers as they devote themselves to prayer and to your Word that they will lead our church according to your will and pleasure. In Christ's Name, Amen.
