Verse 13 - Go and learn what this means, "I desire mercy, and not sacrifice. For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners"

Observation

Jesus called to Matthew specifically and responded directly to questions
from the Pharisees and disciples. He was ready with an answer that revealed
his wisdom and desire to "call the sinners, and not the righteous."

Application

Application
We can all be more attentive to not only the "tax collectors" around us
but more specifically to the individual tax collectors like Matthew. To get
to know their names, who they are and to call them to the saving grace and
Good News of the Gospel.

Prayer

Prayer
Lord, let me see with your eyes and through the Holy Spirit those you have
put into my life. Let my spirit be the new wineskin that your Spirit pours
new wine into and that you use to call all to you.
