But taking her by the hand he called, saying, "Child, Arise," Luke 8:54

Observation

This child, a twelve year old girl, the only daughter of a man named Jairus died while Jesus healed a lady who has been suffering twelve years from a blood discharging disease. How interesting it is that in this same twelve years, one died, and the other was healed. When Jesus finally came to the house of the already dead girl, his three disciples and girl's parents did not have the full confidence of Jesus's power. In fact, some laughed at him, knowing that the child was dead cold. Nevertheless, Jesus simply called out "Child, Arise." To this commend, the girl arose and joined her parents once again.

Application

Jesus did not mind or rebuked anyone when no one believed in him. He simply called out the child and revived her. Maybe the only person who believed was the child herself while she was still alive. How majestic is His power and grace! To the things that I would normally consider giving it up, He restored the life and peace in its entirety. Still, while I am in dismay, Jesus works wonders in my life, everyday. I only need to believe and obey.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for forgiving my lack of faith. Lead me to life and light. Let me rise to your call. In your precious name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
