Bible in One Year Passages:

Journal Entry

Scripture

28 Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. 30And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, 31who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him.

35And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!"

Observation

The transfiguration displays the divine nature of Jesus though he is man. This Display validates the idea of Trinity of Jesus as Father, Son, and the Holy sprit in one God head. Moses and Elijah also validate the deity of Christ as Peter, John and James look on as witnesses. The transfiguration was pivotal for the disciples to prove that Jesus was the Son of God and not just a healer and a good teacher. Christ ministry of redemption was validated by the heavenly (God, Moses, Elijah) and the earthly (Peter, John, James).

Application

Some time we all need a transfiguration moment in our spiritual walk with Jesus. At time our trust in him wanes and his power over our lives becomes negligible but every once in a while Jesus does something miraculous or "God Sized" that reminds us of his glory. He is Father, Son and the Holy Spirit and he can do all things beyond what we can imagine.

Prayer

Lord , Forgive me for putting you in a box and limiting your power my life. I proclaim you as the Son of God who came to forgive my sins and redeem all those who believe in you. Your power is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow so let your work be done and show yourself to the world again. AMEN
