Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 9:28-36, 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20, 1 Chronicles 29
17How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.
23Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting
The Palmist here in verse 17-18 reflects on how God is constantly watching over him and thinking of him and protecting him. He is amazed that God thinks so much of him and is humble by his presence in his life. God’s thoughts of him are too great and too vast for comprehension and yet he feels this special relationship that is every present and omniscient.
In verse 23 the Palmist asks God to Search the sincerity of his heart to prove his devotion, for he know the enormity of the presence of God in his life. He is awestruck that such a great and omnipotent God can love a sinner like him.
I echo the Palmist's wonder of how such a powerful, creator God can have such an intimate relationship with a sinner like me. You think God has better things to do, something of more a grander scale than try to know my thoughts, hopes and dream and yet there He is. It gives me comfort that in all my waking moments He is there guiding, speaking to me worrying about me like a true father. I am ever thankful of his presence in my life.
Lord thank for being a God that is that completely devoted and invested in my life. Help me to be as devoted and invested to you in all your ways as well. Search my heart and help me to keep my thoughts toward you so that I may not stray. AMEN
