Journal Entry

Scripture

Let a righteous man strike me -- it is a kindness;
let him rebuke me -- it is oil for my head;
let my head not refuse it.
Yet my prayer is continually against their evil deeds. Ps 141:5

Observation

The psalmist cries out for help and protection and to avoid and to be protected from any kind of evil. He asks that his prayer be received as incense. May our attitude in life and towards God be one that asks for his love to protect us from wickedness (not a word we use that often these days) and from evil.

Application

I choose v. 5 as the one I wanted to focus on today. Due to God's gift of a clear desire to know & do God's will 24/7 with the mind of Christ, I believe it is God's will to receive a righteous man's rebuke as a true gift.

Today I will ask someone who knows me well for correction and how I have acted in a way that is outside of the mind of Christ. And, I will thank them for their honesty and love for me.

Prayer

Loving Father, Sacrificing Son, and empowering Spirit, increase my desire to do your will with the mind of Christ. When I lack the faith in your good will, strengthen me according to the ways of your Spirit. May I know my true identity in Christ when I ask for this honest feedback so that I can increasingly look more like your son Jesus Christ in my everyday life, moment to moment. May people encounter you when they relate to me. Amen.
