Bible in One Year Passages:
9And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
From previous verses we learned how to pray: 1. kingdom to come, 2. give us daily bread, 3. forgive our sins as we forgive who are indebted to us 4. lead us not into temptation. With the story about the friend in verses 5 - 8, we learn in verses 9,10 that if we are persistent in our prayers that it will be answered. What assurance! Verses 11 and 12 tells us that not only that it will be answered but how much more than what we expected. We need to trust that how God answers our prayer is what is best for us. It is not always what we want "now" but it is exactly what we need.
I continue to pray. ask, seek and keeping on knocking for his kingdom to come, for my physical and spiritual needs to be met, for my sins to be forgiven, for me to forgive others and for me not to be tempted. I need to trust that even through it may not happen as I would like, I would trust HIM that it is what is best.
Father God, I do pray that your kingdom will be expanded here and now. I do pray that you would provide for my physical and spiritual needs each day. Forgive me for my sins and allow me to fill with grace that I may forgive others. Do not have let me have so much in abundance that I may be tempted to commit sin today. Teach me to trust in you each day in that what you provide for me today is best for me.
AMEN.
