Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 12:13-21, 2 Thessalonians 3:6-12, 2 Chronicles 31-33
vs. 1 Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly!
This psalm tells the people of God to praise Him. The new song of praise is a response to God's grace in providing salvation to His people and also justice for those who reject God. This is the balance of love and justice in God. We are his people not because of our own righteousness, but it is by His grace. We must accept that we do not deserve the salvation, but it is given to us through grace. Thus, we rejoice. We will also praise God for the ultimate justice. Those who commit evil and oppose God will be brought to justice.
I want to sing a new song to God. I want to feel His grace and mercy in a new way. The worries and stress of every day life is preventing me from fully experiencing how much God loves me. I take the creation and all that I have for granted. These are all expressions of His love for me. The greatest is forgiveness of sins and receiving righteousness by absolute grace.
Lord, we are sometimes so blind to your power and love towards each of us. Open our spiritual eyes, so that we can see how You provided all we need. Help us to sing a new song of praise from our hearts.
