Bible in One Year Passages:
Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.
For His ministry, Jesus and His discipcles had many who followed them. Some were healed of evil spirits and some were healed of sicknesses. Many others followed as well. They followed Jesus as He proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God. They gave out of their means to provide for Jesus and his disciples. They gave to meet the needs of his ministry
The priority for the followers of Jesus was the needs of the ministry. That took precedence over their personal needs. They didn't give only what was comfortable to give, they gave until the need was met. I sometimes think, "Why doesn't God just take care of His needs Himself? Why does God need my help?" Then I am reminded that everything I have is God's and He wants us to participate in his work. How would I feel if my son ignored his sister when she is hurt? What if my daughter doesn't want to share her food with her starving brother?
I have been blessed through our church and our ministry. God has given us an opportunity to share his blessing with others. As a follower of Jesus, I want to provide for God's Kingdom out of my means. God help me to do this.
Lord, I admit that money is important to me. I feel like a child clutching a fist full of quarter while you (my father) watch to see what I will do. Help me to see the strangers, neighbors and others as my brothers and sisters in need. Help me to have compassion for them and especially the Korean American youths that need you. Thank you for your saving grace.
