Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 8:22-25, Colossians 3:1-11, 1 Chronicles 13-14
1Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity!
We are to call our attention (behold) to the goodness of people (brothers) loving one another and building each other up (dwelling in unity). Think about this for a moment, a vital behavior in our spiritual life is to think about when a group of people actively love one another in service and kindness.
This passage reminds me of Heb 10:24.
24And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
Today I will actively think about times in the past and in the present when I see people building each other up. As I think about it (behold) I will anticipate the good future this kind of relating in love (dwelling in unity) can create because of the goodness of God operating in our lives.
Father, Son & Spirit, the first and true community of love and unity, may we dwell upon the love you reveal in who you are and in who you are in your people. Give us eyes of faith to see your love operating in the people around us and to repent of our sin of cynicism. Help us to believe that you are actually at work building up your kingdom of love, truth and justice here on earth as it is in heaven. We commit to surrendering to your Spirit's work in and among us.
