Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 8:40-48, Colossians 3:18-25, 1 Chronicles 17-18
3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing to his name, for it is pleasant!
4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself,
Israel as his own possession.
5 For I know that the Lord is great,
and that our Lord is above all gods.
6 Whatever the Lord pleases, he does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all deeps.
7 He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth,
who makes lightnings for the rain
and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
This passage reminds us the reasons why we should give praises to God. He is greater than any other gods or idols. He has the absolute control over all His creations. He orchestrates everything in this world to take place in His perfect timing.
I sometimes forget that God is always in control of my life and He is the one whom I should always give praises to. Rather than giving praises to God for what He has done, I give more praises to my own abilities and skills. I tend to trust my “earthly idols” such as my career, money, family, friends and coworkers more than I trust God in my daily situations. All these things are nothing compared to the greatness of God. I will learn to trust and offer my sincere praises to God at all times not only for what He has done for me but for who He is, the almighty ruler of heaven and earth.
Heavenly Father, Thank you for reminding me of your greatness over all things in heaven and earth. I confess that I have not always given you the proper respect and praise that you deserve. You truly are worthy of all my praise. Please encourage me to always live a life of genuine worship and praise to you so that others may see that and they too may acknowledge you as their only true God and master who deserves all their praises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
