Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 3:7-20, Ephesians 5:22-33, 1 Kings 15-16
If your law had not been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.
I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have given me life. (vs 92-93)
The psalmist affirms the permanency of the Word of God; it is fixed in the heaven; by the word of God, everything on earth stand fast. It gives steadfastness and without any changes.
Thus, he makes the law as his delight -- spending more time with it and keeping it closely to him. Thus, this has given him the strength and anchor not to be shaken in times of affliction. In his constant interaction with the word of God, it has given him life -- the hope to continue on, and not to perish nor dismayed. I read here, the word of God becoming the source for his survival, his being and hope to continue one.
Then, what does it means to have the word of God as your delight? I picture something like; reading, spending more time with it, enjoying reading and meditating, chewing, and be happy and excited to do so. It's fun and good, and brings a joy to the reader. He keeps it close to him and all the time, something so precious and cherished.
Keeping the word of God as my delight -- to keep it all the time with me, have it close to me in the process.
Meditate on it day and night and memorize it all the time.
That's what i want to -- by chewing it on it, there will be a greater joy, becoming the full source of life, my being.
Thus, write a portion of the Scripture on an index card and keep with me closely.
Thank you, Lord, for your reminder that the word of God is my delight and it gives the reason for my being.
May i continue to meditate on your word, and may that give me my being. in jesus name, amen.
