Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 4:14-21, Philippians 1:1-11, 1 Kings 20-21
113I hate the double-minded,
but I love your law.
114You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in your word.
115 Depart from me, you evildoers,
that I may keep the commandments of my God.
116Uphold me according to your promise, that I may live,
and let me not be put to shame in my hope!.
The Psalmist (David) here proclaims his disdain for the double minded. This statement can be a self description of his own heart. We know his past history of sin and his many failures to live up to the standard of being the king and to God. Yet with his hate for the double minded he loves God’s laws. Here David reveals his struggles as a sinner and yet he clings to Gods law and his words as his hiding place and shield. David is wrestling with his sinful nature and his hope of redemption lies in the strength of God promise of salvation and relationship through His laws and words
Being double minded is David’s description of wanting to be true to God yet failing to due so as I struggle with sin. And like David’s proclamation I do cling to God’s Word and Law to be sheltered in from my struggles and being shielded from doubt. I’m thankful for God's promise of redemption with bring hope
Lord You know my thought and deeds as well as my struggles. You also know my desire to be true to you and your ways. Help me Lord cling to your words and laws that I may fill my mind , actions and behavior to bring honor and glory to you. Also thank you for your glace of redemption that come from your blood on the cross. Through your blood I am free from my sins which brings hope for tomorrow
