Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 5:27-32, Philippians 3:1-7, 2 Kings 11-12
Psalm 119:169-176
169 Let my cry come before you, O Lord;
give me understanding according to your word!
170 Let my plea come before you;
deliver me according to your word.
171 My lips will pour forth praise,
for you teach me your statutes.
172 My tongue will sing of your word,
for all your commandments are right.
173 Let your hand be ready to help me,
for I have chosen your precepts.
174 I long for your salvation, O Lord,
and your law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live and praise you,
and let your rules help me.
176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant,
for I do not forget your commandments.
There are four main parts to today’s verses 1. Prayer (Let my cry…) 2. Listen (Give me understanding…) 3. Praise (My lip will…) 4. Learn (give me understanding…). Just like many parts of a body forming a wonderful God’s master piece, these four main ingredients are making wonderful praise of Psalm. All are essential pieces of believer’s walk. Looking back, I am realizing that I lack the listening part the most. Today’s verses remind me how important it is for me to spend time to listen to the word of God.
As part of my daily routine, I would allocate a time where I would just listen to the Lord.
Dear Lord, I confess that often times, I am so busy “doing”, I lack “listening”. Won’t you grant me a listening and obeying heart today? In Jesus name, I pray.
