Bible in One Year Passages:

Journal Entry

Scripture

7And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse him.

9And Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?" 10And after looking around at them all he said to him, "Stretch out your hand." And he did so, and his hand was restored. 11But they were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.

Observation

Jesus asks this question to show how the scribes and the Pharisees did not understand God's intent of Sabbath. Furthermore it shows how they were "filled with fury" as opposed to being filled with the spirit. They were scheming "what they might do to Jesus" instead of rejoicing when Jesus healed the hand.

Application

It is so important to understand true meaning of the scriptures so that I can follow, understand, and obey Jesus as God intended for me to. I do not want to misunderstand or be misled and become like the scribes and Pharisees.

Prayer

Father God, Help me to have a right heart. A heart that desires to truly understand you so that I can do your will not mine. Guide me and fill me with your spirit so that I may understand your Words correctly and not be led astray. Amen.
