2 if it had not been the Lord who was on our side
when people rose up against us,
6 Blessed be the Lord,
who has not given us
as prey to their teeth!
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

Observation

The writer is in deep trouble, at the very edge of losing everything, including life. In this desperation, he calls on the name of the Lord, expecting and receiving deliverance.

Application

In my times of trouble, I need to not only recognize and acknowledge who God is but His provision and primacy in delivering me from my enemies and my troubles. He who made heaven and earth is the name I need to call upon. To really rely on God and to call and act in His name.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for reminding me that in my deepest troubles and times of despair you are her with me and for me. Help me trust you fully and completely and to claim victory in the name of Jesus Christ. Let me see my life through your eyes and to understand more completely your will in and for my life. Thank you for for your faithfulness and overabundant love. Amen.
