Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 1:39-45, Ephesians 2:1-10, 1 Kings 3-4
Even though princes sit plotting against me,
your servant will meditate on your statutes.
Your testimonies are my delight;
they are my counselors. Psalm 119:23-24
I wish I had the gift of rapping. These words, extolling the virtues, the benefits, the wisdom, the comforting bounds, and the holiness of God's laws would be so great to hear and share. To meditate is to do more than hear preaching one day a week, only to forget during the remaining six. To meditate on the statutes of God and to delight in God's testimonies are more like being completely surrounded and filled as if we were submerged in water. How often do I seek good counsel from others and neglect the one place where God speaks perhaps most forcefully? God's testimonies are my counselors.
I think that everyone has a project or two that was started long ago, to return to the scriptures and restart a scripture memory project, or a regular bible study. But the busyness of life has put that on hold. I have several of these that have, through neglect and bad prioritization, slowly faded into the background. Time to jump back into the game, with a fresh reminder that God's word is active today and offers counsel for me, today.
Lord, forgive me for losing my way around. Rekindle in me a revived regard for your word and help me to seek your guidance and active counsel, from your wonderful words.
