Bible in One Year Passages:

Journal Entry

Scripture

76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,
77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people
in the forgiveness of their sins,
78 because of the tender mercy of our God,
whereby the sunrise shall visit us [1] from on high
79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Observation

Through Zechariah, a man who lived a righteous life, Lord God revealed the clear role for John the baptist, that of preparing for his ways, to give knowledge of salvation through forgiveness of sins through mercy of God, and guiding us into the way of peace. And all this was done to fulfill God's covenant and oath.

Application

I too want to see clearly His purpose in my life. Zechariah, living a righteous life, was given the Holy Spirit and prophesized about his son, John the baptist. I need to clear myself of the worldly distractions and live more righteous life, by seeking to align myself with His will, and be immersed more in prayer and the Word.

Prayer

Lord, I want to see clearly your purpose in my life. Help me to remove worldly distraction from my priorities and instead place you and your way above all else. I pray that you'd fill me with the Holy Spirit, that I would place highest priority in seeking your purpose in me. Amen.
