Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 1:67-80, Ephesians 3:14-21, 1 Kings 8
47 for I find my delight in your commandments,
which I love.
48 I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love,
and I will meditate on your statutes.
The psalmist give a joyous praise to the Lord, specifically towards His commandments and statutes.
God has given us commandments and statutes, not to hinder us, but to make us whole and complete. Although it feels contrary to modern society's acceptance of mediocrity and compromise, God has set the standards for us long ago. During the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus elaborated “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished” (Matthew 5:17-18). As such, I should take joy in following his commandments and statutes, seeking to fulfill it.
Lord God,
I praise you and honor you for you are consistent and faithful. I pray that with the Holy Spirit's guidance, I'd move closer and closer to your design for my life, that I'd seek to fulfill your ways, your Laws. Throughout the day help me to reflect and correct myself, that I may imitate Jesus and align myself with your will and purpose. In the Lord's name, I pray. Amen.
