Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 2:1-7, Ephesians 4:1-16, 1 Kings 9
52 I remember, LORD, your ancient laws,
and I find comfort in them.
Psalm 119 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. The "chorus" is a reminder of the power of focusing our attention on God's good and living word. This verse is something that in the past 10 years I have been able to say and understand in a fresh and new way. In the first half of my journey with God the Father, I thought his laws and commands were there to see if I would obey or not. God has brought me to a place where I experience his love and receive power from remembering and meditating upon his laws and commands. I experience them as full of his love and wisdom. He reveals his laws (and commands) because he is revealing the best way for me to live. I cannot imagine any great thinker or philosopher describing a better way to live. The Father, the Son and the Spirit reveal the way to life. Life abundant.
My application today is to remember specific laws that has protected me and comforted me.
In addition to remembering I will look to a law that I seem to be regularly transgressing and ask for his wisdom to see the love and care he has embedded within his this law.
Amazingly wise and loving Father, help me to see the ways your laws and commands lead me into life. Reveal to me your heart in designing these laws with such care and love. Help me to remember your true character when I am tempted to cross over a law. May I surrender to the good work of your Spirit that resides within me. Love, your child.
