Scripture

20 Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.
27 For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Observation

The abomination of desolation or anything that mock God has happened in the past and will happen in the future.
We are to be watchful and be focused so not to worship anything but God alone in our life.
We can do this by praying for example that tribulation will not occur in the winter or on a Sabbath.
Also we can trust in God’s goodness and provision that He will shorten those days for the sake of elect.
We should guard against false teaching and know the Scripture which says for as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Application

I often lose focus and worship the very things God has blessed me with than the Blesser. This doesn’t please God and in fact, it’s abomination to God. I must confess my sins and return to God in living a life that is faithful in prayer and spending time in His Words. I would like to make a priority in spending at least 30 minutes in doing above on daily basis.

Prayer

Lord God, thank you for your Words that guides and gently brings me back to you. Help me to worship you alone in my life. Thank you for all the blessings in my life but know that You are the source and provider of all that I have.
As I commit myself to go back to spending time with you in prayer and in words that you’d help me and lead me to do your will.
