Bible in One Year Passages:
Matthew 24:15-28, Romans 6:1-14, Numbers 21-22
1 Give ear to my prayer, O God,
and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy!
12For it is not an enemy who taunts me—
then I could bear it;
it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me—
then I could hide from him.
13 But it is you, a man, my equal,
my companion, my familiar friend.
23But you, O God, will cast them down
into the pit of destruction;
men of blood and treachery
shall not live out half their days.
But I will trust in you.
David is crying out to God to answer his prayers and to save him. He talks about his enemy and how vile they are and I find that his enemy is his own friend. It seem like they were once like brothers enjoying sweet counsel together. That makes it even worse to be betrayed like that. Nevertheless, David acknowledges the end of the unrighteous and puts his trust in God.
There will be times in life when things will go tough like what David is going through. I can even feel like betrayed by my own friends. But I can always come to God to answer my prayers and save me. Though I should love people, my ultimate trust should be in God and not man.
Heavenly Father, I am thankful for this time in my life where I don’t have to go through what David is going through. But if I do, please help me to endure well and have trust in you. I pray for those who may be going through rough times, such as sickness in family, loss of job and broken relationships in their life. Would you come to them and answer our prayers? Would you comfort them and save them?
Today is the day I pray for my coworkers and pray that they will get closer to you that you will help me to love them in words and in actions. In His Name. Amen.
