Bible in One Year Passages:
Matthew 26:26-35, Romans 10:1-13, Deuteronomy 1-3
1O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.....5My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, 6when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; (Ps 63:1,5-6)
I see 3 sections in this Psalm. First section from verses 1 through 4 where King David is expressing his "thirsting" for God because of his steadfast love. Second section from verses 5 through 8 where King David is expressing how his "thirst" will be satisfied when he is "remembering" and "meditating" on God. Third section from verses 9 through 11 where King David expresses how the wicked ones (those who seek harm upon him) will be defeated and that he will be rejoicing and praising God at the end. Being "thirsting" for God comes in varying degrees and in different forms. Here, verse 6 tells us that we will be "satisfied" when we are SEEKING, REMEMBERING AND MEDITATING ON GOD.
"Thirst" brings up 3 different images - (1) a person in a desert who are desperately seeking for water to quench the deadly "thirst"; (2) an athlete who have been exercising going after the drinks to quench the "thirst"; and (3) a person who are thirsting passing many different drinks to look for a specific drink to quench the thirst. I find myself in all three different situations. I need God's help all the time. However, many times, I focus on the result and benefit of God's help, but do not do what is also required of me... to REMEMBER AND TO MEDITATE UPON HIM. When I REMEMBER AND MEDITATE ON GOD, it prepares me to not only receive, but also helps me to fully experience the goodness of God. Therefore, I shall do my utmost to REMEMBER AND MEDITATE and truly enjoy and be satisfied.
Thank you Lord for reminding me again to REMEMBER AND MEDITATE ON YOU. Seeking and thirsting after You comes naturally and I pray that that REMEMBERING AND MEDITATING on You will become a routine and natural. As I REMEMBER AND MEDITATE, allow me to enjoy and be satisfied in You even more so. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen
