Bible in One Year Passages:
Matthew 26:69-75, Romans 12:1-8, Deuteronomy 13-17
v 16-19: Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.
As the latter continuation of the chapter 66, the author continues to sing praise to the Lord. In the passage above, we see the continued praise but we also see an invitation to come and hear God as well as sharing God's deed and response. It is a song of testimony to God's response to our cries and praise.
These set of verses are very beautiful where it summarizes how our God is worthy of our praise. As a follower of Christ and having witnessed God and his amazing love through my life, I am encouraged by the invitation that the author makes to others to "Come and hear"; I feel compelled to make intentional efforts to reach out to many to "come and hear" so that I too can witness and share what God has done for me.
Another verse that spoke to me was v18 ("If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened"). It is another clear reminder that even though we are all sinful and have earned our salvation only by Grace through Jesus, we must not "cherish" sin/iniquity in our hearts as we live before God and cry out to him.
It is amazing to think about the privilege to experience God but it must be shared so that others may know of it as well.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your amazing love and presence in our lives. We pray that we continue to praise your name and invite others to join in our praise. Give us the confidence and vigor to fight iniquities in our hearts so that we may come to you with open hearts. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
