Matt 27:20 Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

Observation

The crowd were like puppets who were persuaded to do what the chief priests and the elders wanted them to do. They had no conviction, but were moved like a reed at the whim of the wind. We are given messages, by politicians, media, friends, Bible...they tell us what to do, to persuade us to behave in a certain way. Who do we listen to and who are we persuaded by and what results from the our behavior?

Application

I want to be persuaded by the Word of God.That means I have to listen to what he has to say by meditating on his word day and night. I must abide in him constantly throughout the day, think of him, even throughout the busy-ness of life.

Prayer

God, please indwell my heart and mind so that I would listen to what you have to say. I want to do what you want me to do. Help me to always have you at the forefront of my thoughts constantly and not forget you as the world persuades me to listen to it.
