Bible in One Year Passages:
Matthew 27:24
When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood, "he said. "It is your responsibility!"
Pilate knew of Jesus' innocence but still in his reluctance was the one who authorized Jesus' crucifixion. Makes me think of the leaders of today who are swayed in their decision making by the pressures of the mob. How many times has the President, bosses, managers, teachers, parents, and myself been swayed in my choices God as thought me. Do I and others do it to please people or that we are scared. I am truly guilty when I proclaim my innocence by placing the responsibility onto others.
I need to trust in the Lord in times when I feel the odds are stacked against me. These are the moments I feel I am truly tested in my faith to our Savior. There will be times in my life where I am called to make difficult decisions. This is the time to ask myself if its pleasing to God's eyes or to others.
Thank you Father for dying on the cross for me. Even in times when I am caught making the wrong decisions you are always there for me. Give me strength to do what is right as you have taught me. Forgive me for all the times I have made you sad. I want to be reminded daily of your infinite love. Give me the wisdom to do so. Your humble servant kneeling before you. Amen
